The Insomnia Drabbles: part 3
Mar. 20th, 2011 05:53 pmRating: PG
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Summary: A collection of drabbles including what you have, what you realize, and what you are
Warning: Spoilers for season 9/10. Also, considering the time limit... forgive me if I quote or reference something wrong.
Author Note: This was done in a community hall stairwell at 3 in the morning (less creepy than it sounds, I swear), and with no music, I just gave myself 4 minutes to do each of these based on the first four songs that came into my head. The jury's out on the quality of these, but here's 4 more.
Part 1 (and meme rules) Part 2
12) Perfect: Boyce Avenue
Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
They weren’t perfect, they weren’t immortal, no abilities to speak of... or at least, not anymore. They were human, fallible and made plenty of costly mistakes. Yet through it all, they could look each other in the eye with the same amount of love than any other couple would. They accepted the other’s faults, who they were, because they knew that the other did the same for them. Love isn’t perfect, it’s hard and often messy, but if it’s real, it’s worth the storm clouds to see the rainbow on the other side, and after everything Chloe and Oliver had been through, the colour was finally starting to come through.
13) Smack into You: Jon Mclaughlin
And love is right in my path, in my grasp
And you and me belong
He wasn’t sure when it all changed- the moment he realized that she saved his life, target practice, heck the ‘heart to heart’ with Clark, but it had. He had started to notice the little things, the momentary smiles she gave him the morning after a needed sleep, or how often she raised her eyebrows and rolled her eyes at things he said.
So when she widened her eyes after he walked through the door spouting a quip about tax evasion, Oliver couldn’t help but smile back at Chloe. She was beautiful, smart, witty and passionate, and in every un-materialistic way, likely out of his league. But when he felt her arms around him, he realized that he wanted her, and the way she looked at him proved it wasn’t just one sided.
14) 9 Crimes: Damien Rice
It's the wrong time for somebody new
It's a small crime and I got no excuse
It was completely unexpected, spontaneous... words that weren’t in her dictionary. But she stared at him sleeping next to her; Chloe couldn’t hold back the smile that came across her face, even though she didn’t know why she was smiling. It was probably just a one-time thing, nothing more... a night of fun.
She got up and grabbed her clothes that had been scattered across Watchtower and tried not to wake him, but soon after she managed to put her shirt on, she heard him stirring. In a moment of desperation, she scurried over to the couch and hid behind it, hoping he’d leave without them having to talk about it.
Oliver had seen her, the whole thing, but he didn’t want to push her to do something she didn’t want. He put on his clothes and walked out of Watchtower, but before the doors closed, he said, “Talk to you later Chloe.”
15) What you Own: Rent OST ( YT vid is from the inaugural Broadway show)
And when you’re living in America
At the end of the millennium
You’re what you own
On paper, she had lost pretty much everything. On paper, she didn’t exist and most of her possessions had been lost in the Talon explosion. Yet she was smiling.
In a time where it’s all about what you own, for Chloe, it was who she had. She had friends that had her back, a cousin that kept her on her toes, and a husband who unconditionally loved her. Sure, her husband was Oliver Queen, so technically, Chloe Sullivan (Queen?) owned more than just the clothes on her back, but those possessions didn’t make her who she was. No, that had been long burned down and lost, but she was ready for the next phase of her life to begin... meet new people and make a difference, one step at a time.
